Stories That Make Space

Mental Health Awareness Month is a time to listen more closely, speak more openly, and support one another with empathy. In that spirit, we’re honored to share one of the most important projects we’ve worked on this year, a collaboration with the Indiana University School of Medicine to reduce stigma around mental health in medicine.

The Combatting Mental Health Stigma series includes six short films that center the stories of physicians who’ve experienced mental health challenges firsthand, navigating everything from imposter syndrome and postpartum depression to addiction, mood disorders, and suicidality. Their stories are raw, real, and deeply human. They’re acts of courage. Stories told with the hope that someone else might feel seen, understood, and supported. Told not to the crowd, but to the one person who needs to hear it most.

“We are very pleased with how the anti-stigma video series turned out. It was a pleasure to work with Blueline; the team took a very thoughtful approach to the project and worked very closely with us to identify and meet our goals and our vision for this project. The initiative has been very well-received with students and faculty commenting on how powerful and moving the stories are. We’ve also received comments from viewers that they are more likely to seek mental health treatment as a result of watching the videos.”
— Samia Hasan, IU School of Medicine

Shot with a documentary-narrative lens, the series was created to feel less like a campaign and more like a conversation peer-to-peer, honest, and disarming. It’s for the student who feels alone in their struggle. For the physician who thinks they need to hold it all together. For the next generation of caregivers learning that vulnerability doesn’t make you weak, it makes you brave.

“Blueline was fantastic to work with and did a very thoughtful, careful job compiling the videos. The videos themselves have been incredibly well-received and we’ve had a great deal of positive feedback about how impactful the videos are. We’ve also received specific feedback that individuals sought treatment as a result of watching the videos, so they’re truly working effectively to reduce stigma around mental health.”

We’re grateful to the physicians who trusted us to help tell their stories—and to IU School of Medicine for making mental health visibility a priority.

Because when we create space for stories like these, we’re doing more than raising awareness—we’re helping build a future where vulnerability is strength, and support is always within reach.

The Blueline Team P.S. Stories have the power to shift perspectives and drive meaningful change. If you have one to tell, we’d love to help bring it to life.
