More than a Race: Little 500 at 75 — The Story Behind Indiana University’s Iconic Race

Some stories are built over time.

Alongside our longtime partners at the Indiana University Student Foundation, we set out to tell a story that has been 75 years in the making.

For more than 18 years, Blueline has had the privilege of working alongside IUSF as a media partner for Little 500, Indiana University’s iconic student cycling race and one of the most storied institutions in college athletics. 

Year after year, we’ve been at the race to capture the traditions, the energy, and the people that make this race what it is. Over time, that access turns into something deeper: understanding, trust, and an intimate perspective into The World’s Greatest College Weekend. 

So when the 75th anniversary approached, it felt fitting to step back and tell the bigger story.

More Than a Race is our documentary capturing the legacy, tradition, and evolution of Little 500, looking beyond the race itself to the people and culture that shape it and the moments that don’t always make the highlight reel but still define the experience.

This project is the result of years of proximity to the race and the community behind it. It’s a reflection of what happens when a partnership grows over time and the story reveals itself layer by layer.

To kick off the 75th Anniversary and as a companion to our documentary, we are also proud to host a curated photo exhibition bringing together decades of imagery from photographers, students, and the community. From trackside intensity to behind-the-scenes moments, the show captures the spirit and history that define Little 500.
