The Students are the Script: Capturing the Luddy Experience

March 16, 2026

At the Indiana University Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering, there is no shortage of stories to tell. With a wide range of programs, research initiatives, and student pathways, the real challenge isn’t finding stories. It’s deciding how to tell them.

When the Luddy team partnered with Blueline to create a new series of recruitment videos, the goal was simple: capture what it actually feels like to be a Luddy student while helping prospective students see the many opportunities waiting for them within the school.

Not just the facts about programs, but the experience itself. The curiosity that pulls students into new ideas. The collaboration that shapes how they learn. The moment when a student realizes they are working on something meaningful.

From the beginning, the project centered on the voices of the students themselves. Working closely with the Luddy marketing team, we focused on identifying students whose experiences reflected the many ways Luddy students build their education around the subjects and ideas that excite them most.

Across interviews and production days, those conversations became the foundation for a series of short pieces designed to work together as a campaign. The final project included a suite of videos built to meet prospective students where they already are — short-form pieces that could live across digital platforms while still carrying the spirit of a larger story about what it means to study at Luddy.

The work was deeply collaborative from start to finish. The Luddy team brought a clear understanding of their students, their programs, and the themes they wanted to communicate. Together, we focused on shaping those ideas into a story that felt authentic to the Luddy experience while remaining accessible to prospective students just beginning to imagine a future in technology.

“This is the smoothest experience that I’ve encountered — and I’ve been here 10 years — with an outside entity from the school.”

— Chris Kowalczyk, Marketing Generalist at Indiana University Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering

Projects like this are a reminder that the strongest work grows out of partnership. When teams bring their perspectives together with a shared commitment to the story, the result feels both genuine and memorable.

We’re grateful to the Luddy team and the Indiana University Communications and Marketing Team for the trust and collaboration that made this project possible, and we look forward to continuing to tell the stories that shape the future of Indiana University.
