Capturing a Legacy

For years, UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center has been a place where science meets compassion, where breakthroughs are measured not only in data but in lives touched. The 50th Anniversary of the Center wasn’t just a moment to reflect on the past. It was a celebration of the people and stories that shape Lineberger’s legacy and its future.

Blueline partnered with Lineberger to create a video that captured that legacy. The project began in the Center’s archives, where decades of photos, news clippings, and old film rolls revealed a story of relentless care and discovery. From there, we captured on-location interviews and footage with doctors, patients, and staff whose work reflects that same unwavering commitment.

For our team, it was an exercise in balance, blending the historic and the human. We wove archival imagery with present-day voices to create a sense of continuity, fifty years connected by one through line of purpose.

The video debuted at the 50th Anniversary dinner, where senior university leadership, physicians, and staff expressed awe at Lineberger's rich history and the people behind it. It was later shown at a national scientific symposium, and soon will serve as the centerpiece of the anniversary campaign which will be shared in upcoming communications with national healthcare providers.

Projects like this remind us why we do what we do: telling stories that honor legacy and the people behind it. Our ongoing collaboration with Lineberger over multiple projects has grown into a true partnership, and we’re proud to support the Center’s work while shining a light on the discoveries and people who make progress in cancer care possible every day.
