IUSM | Mental Health Stigma Series
The Department of Mental Health Services is proud to present the Combating Mental Health Stigma Video Series, a collection of six short documentaries that candidly explore the mental health journeys of physicians within the Indiana University School of Medicine. These videos shed light on a range of topics, including imposter syndrome, postpartum depression, mood disorders, alcohol use, and suicidality.
Each story is a deeply personal account of struggle, resilience, and healing.
Produced with a documentary-narrative lens, this series blends professional storytelling with the authentic, peer-to-peer intimacy of lived experience. The goal is not just to inform, but to resonate...offering a voice to medical learners who may be facing similar challenges. These are stories told not to the crowd, but to the individual, like speaking to a younger version of oneself, or to a colleague quietly navigating their own path.
We are profoundly grateful to the physicians who have shared their stories. By doing so, they contribute to a growing culture of openness, empathy, and support. This series stands as both a testament and an invitation; to talk, to listen, and to help end the stigma surrounding mental health in medicine.
